Trinity Lake

With over 16,000 acres of water to play on, and 145 miles of picture perfect shoreline to fish from, Trinity Lake has something to offer everyone. Sheltered coves and crystal clear waters beckon to houseboats and bass boats alike. There are marinas nearby where you can rent watercraft, or bring your own, there is plenty of parking. The lake supports healthy populations of rainbow trout and both large and small mouth bass. There have even been rumors that the salmon planted in the lake have turned up at the end of a lucky fishermans line.

Shasta-Trinity National Forest

This wilderness is unquestionably one of the most beautiful and diverse in the states.
There are 55 alpine lakes in the area that can be hiked to, many of which support healthy populations of fish. And they all are home to a multitude of birds and animals unspoiled by human interaction, providing a rare and wonderful opportunity for wildlife viewing.

While all of Trinity County is full of gold rush history, at Quicksilver Cabin you can get close to it. The property was once owned by Carrville Mining Company, and the cabin was the assayers office. Quicksilver Cabin sits on the old California-Oregon Stage Route and at the Scott Museum in Trinity Center (just 7 miles from the cabin) you can see much of what life may have been like during the early years. Before settlement, the whole Trinity Lake area was populated by the Wintu Indian tribe. The library, just next to the museum has a fine collection of local historical publications.
